Jane

Lamar Deal

Jane wakes up

She takes a spike

She drives it in her arm

Her eyes roll back

Her jaw goes slack

Prepares to buy the farm

If Jane should die before she wakes

That’s just a chance that Janie takes

And every day is a brand new day for Jane

Jane goes to bed

She rests her head

Prepares to go to sleep

She says a prayer

Into the air

The Lord her soul to keep

If Jane should wake before she dies

You’ll see the pain in Janie’s eyes

And every day is a brand new day for Jane

Every day

And every minute

And everything that’s in it

Every day is a brand new day for Jane

The pain in Jane

Lies mainly in her brain

And every day’s

A brand new day for Jane
